This week’s store update can be summarized in one word, meh. (Unless you like Pool)
Good news for all you Bayonetta players on the PS3! Sega Japan has announced a patch for the game that allows installs to the hard drive, that will (hopefully) cut down the terrible load times the PS3 version has.
The patch has only been confirmed for Japan, due for release tomorrow (Thursday), but it seems more than likely it will come to other regions as well.
Looks like Sega have been listening and are actually acting on some feedback. Well, there’s a first time for everything!

Good news for all you Americans (or Canadians) out there that like pool! The awesome Hustle Kings is finally coming to your PlayStation Store.
It’s been out in the EU for a while now, and I recommend it 100%. It only costs $9.99 and asks the question: “How shiny are your balls?” How can you not buy a game just for that?
Looks like, post release, it may be patched for the Waggle Wands, and currently it has custom soundtracks, YouTube upload and an extensive online multiplayer mode and a fantabulous career. And, of course, it has TROPHIES YO!
Great ball physics mean this is the most realistic pool sims I have EVER played, and I can’t say a bad word about it.
(Below is E3 trailer)

First up is the heavy rain theme. I’m not going to lie, out of all the themes listed on thurs, i thought this would be the best. It isn’t bad, and i suppose it stays true to the meaning of the game, as that screen shot there is all you can see, with it raining, heavily, and the camera just moves as if the person holding it were breathing, heavily. Instead of creating a pleasent background, this one very much puts you on edge. It’s so dark you can’t see anything beyond the rain, and it feels as if theres going to be an extra bit where the camera darts to the left, or something’s about to jump out at you. It keeps you on your toes, but is a bit of a nightmare to have as a background.
PRICE: £1.59
RATING: 7.5/10
Now singstar, this is one of those themes that you feel they just threw out there. There’s nothing going on here, all that happens is the background above scrolls from left to right on a loop, and every-so often there’s a cardboard cut out-esque of something singstary, albeit a floppy haired twenty something, or one of those now pointless ghetto blasters.
PRICE: 1.59
RATING: 4/10
Finally Buzz. this is a theme that i nominate for the award, ‘fuck all to do with the actual game’. As wonderfully demonstrated by the above screen shot, a camera pans round mr Buzz’s living room while he slumps on the sofa watching tv. The only thing this theme attempts to doto shake things up, is to every so often make Mr Buzz re-adjust his sitting stance.
PRICE: 1.59
RATING: 3/10

*PLEASE NOTE: this was written while internet was down, so full online features were not accesible*
As those of you that read the store update will have seen, a closed public beta for Mod Nation Racers was released on thursday, and i jumped on it straight away. It looks nice, all shiny and cartoony, but this beta was aimed primarily at letting you fiddle with the ‘creation zone’.
